About Greg Smith…
So, who is this Greg character anyway?
I co-founded GT Design in 1997 and lead the company in the areas of Internet-based marketing strategy and web development. For over 25 years, I have been developing businesses as owner/operator of small companies and leader of sales and marketing efforts for mid-to-large sized companies.
My passion is the use of the Internet to effectively promote businesses through innovative online marketing techniques. By merging traditional marketing methods with Internet-based techniques, I am able to create unique, effective solutions for many business needs.
If you ask my friends about my personality you’ll hear stuff like irreverent, laidback or unorthodox but you will also hear intelligent, hard working and innovative. Rest assured, I take work and projects seriously but not at the expense of fun and good times along the way.
I began using the Internet in about 1994 when I was on the road as a sales rep spending 3 or 4 nights a week in hotels. When I wasn’t watching a movie on HBO, I was learning how to get the Internet to work for me. Along the way I’ve made a bunch of mistakes, learned a lot and had some successes as well.
I still spend an inordinate amount of time researching, learning and experimenting to the tune of 20-30 hours a week so I can keep on top of trends and offer you the most up to date solutions that will help your business succeed.
Over the years I’ve developed a customer-centered marketing strategy that works for a wide variety of companies. I’ve implemented Internet-based marketing strategies and tools for more than 40 companies ranging from medical devices and software, to personal safety and fine art, to multi-million dollar spas and cosmetology schools.
I’ve been self employed most of my adult life. My extensive entrepreneurial experience also includes the founding of Autopia, an automotive aftermarket enhancement firm; Photosmith, a photography studio specializing in product photography as well as track photography at auto racing venues; TET Sales, a standalone, online marketing arm of TET Cycles (manufacturer of custom fit, high-end bicycle frames); and slopeflyer.com, the number one online resource for radio-controlled slope soaring enthusiasts and an importer/distributor of radio-controlled sailplanes. Recently I, along with my wife, Wendy, started educationalmom.com, a resource for moms looking for games and toys with educational value for their children. Wendy has over 15 years teaching experience and lends her knowledge to the venture.
I attended West Valley Community College in Saratoga, California and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where I studied architecture.
I have been writing for many years which has been personally rewarding having been published in several national magazines including:
- Model Aviation
- Radio Control Soaring Digest
As a professional photographer I have had photos published in several national magazines including:
- Model Aviation
- Model Airplane News
- Fly RC
- Radio Control Soaring Digest
When I am not otherwise engaged I work on niche market movies using digital production equipment.
In previous lives I spent a lot of time in the automotive industry, the bicycle industry and the photography industry.
